Cuando Apple<\/strong><\/a> lanz\u00f3 el iPhone 8<\/strong><\/a> y el iPhone 8 Plus<\/strong><\/a> posiblemente haya tenido en consideraci\u00f3n que su popularidad iba a verse afectada por dos factores: lo poco que ten\u00edan para proponer de nuevo con respecto a los iPhones de la pasada generaci\u00f3n y la diferencia garrafal que hab\u00eda entre su propuesta de hardware y su dise\u00f1o exterior con respecto al flamante iPhone X<\/a>.<\/p>\n

En virtud de esto, era de esperarse que las ventas del iPhone 8 y del iPhone 8 Plus no tuviesen las astron\u00f3micas cifras que smartphones de Apple de pasadas generaciones, pero de seguro Apple no hab\u00eda previsto que el iPhone 7<\/a><\/strong> se transformara en el smartphone m\u00e1s vendido del mundo al cierre del tercer trimestre del 2017. O quiz\u00e1 s\u00ed.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Con el advenimiento de tres nuevos smartphones, un tel\u00e9fono de la calidad del iPhone 7 tendr\u00eda que ceder en precio frente a los beneficios de la tecnolog\u00eda de punta. Pero ocurre que incluso para la a veces excesiva velocidad a la que se desarrollan las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas, algunos smartphones se yerguen perennes en el inconsciente colectivo, se instalan inmortales en los corazones de los consumidores.<\/p>\n

Cuando el iPhone 7 se lanz\u00f3 hacia finales del 2016, ocup\u00f3 los primeros puestos en la mayor\u00eda de los sitios de rese\u00f1as de smartphones y continu\u00f3 siendo protagonista de comparaciones de est\u00e1ndares de calidad durante toda la primera mitad del 2018. Luego, el iPhone 8 y el iPhone 8 Plus no hicieron mucho por mejorar lo antes propuesto y, l\u00f3gicamente, la disparidad de precios entre estos productos fue l\u00f3gicamente percibida por los consumidores como caprichosa y se comportaron de la siguiente forma: quienes pudiesen o estuviesen dispuestos a abonar cifras exorbitantes de dinero, les convendr\u00eda m\u00e1s esperar al lanzamiento del iPhone X; mientras que los que no quisieran renunciar a la calidad de un smartphone de alta gama pero no estaban dispuestos a pagar de m\u00e1s, optar\u00edan r\u00e1pidamente por comprar un iPhone 7.<\/p>\n

Y eso probablemente lo que ocurri\u00f3, informaci\u00f3n que bien puede apoyarse con el reporte de la consultora Canalys. De acuerdo a esta consultora, se vendieron 13 millones de iPhone 7 en el tercer trimestre del 2017, ocupando el puesto n\u00famero uno de smartphone m\u00e1s vendido del mundo en el mismo per\u00edodo. El iPhone 6s<\/a> fue el segundo smartphone m\u00e1s vendido en el tercer trimestre alcanzando las 7,9 millones de unidades distribuidas. \u00bfEn qu\u00e9 puesto quedaron, entonces, el iPhone 8 y el iPhone 8 Plus? No entraron en el top cinco.<\/p>\n

Se vendieron 5,4 millones de unidades del iPhone 8 y 6,3 millones de unidades del iPhone 8 Plus. Curiosamente, el iPhone 8 Plus es la primera variante en mucho tiempo de historia de ventas de Apple en venderse m\u00e1s que la variante est\u00e1ndar. Combinadas las cifras, la novena generaci\u00f3n de iPhones (es decir, el iPhone 8 y el iPhone 8 Plus) no logr\u00f3 vender m\u00e1s que el iPhone 7 en solitario, algo que pone a\u00fan m\u00e1s en perspectiva cu\u00e1n m\u00e1s exitoso fue el\u00a0flagship<\/em> est\u00e1ndar de Apple de la pasada generaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Se espera que todos estos n\u00fameros queden dram\u00e1ticamente opacados por las ventas del iPhone X, lo que posiblemente deje a\u00fan m\u00e1s ensombrecida la popularidad del iPhone 8 y del iPhone 8 Plus.
